Thank You Very Much - 2/25/10

The Daily Dribbles

It's Thursday! *happy dance*
Free Therapy Day courtesy of  Kmama at The Daily Dribbles.

To Ashton for saying unbelievabley horrible WORDS while we were at the doctor's office. I don't need this distraction while I am discussing your sister's no-symptom-ear-infection problem, Thank You Very Much!

And just in case the Dr. and I didn't hear it the first time, Thank You VERY Much Bailey for making sure by tattling on Ashton and REPEATING the words right in front of the doctor. Now there is absolutely no way I will get my Mother of The Year Award!

Thank You Very Much boys for reminding me that I am most likely the one who taught you these words. In my defense, I can not help myself when I am yelling at bad drivers!

To my energy for sucking all of the motivation right out of my body and forcing me to lounge on the couch and watch tv instead of keeping up with  my Blog Roll! I have friends to visit Thank You Very Much!

Go visit Kmama and receive your free therapy, TODAY!

True Story Tuesday - Stupid Parent Tricks

I wish I could say that this incident was caused because I was an inexperienced, first time mom, but this was not the last time I performed similar stupid tricks!

Thanksgiving 2001
Lily was 19 months
I actually scrapbooked this event in an attempt to always remember my mistake! Here is the actual journaling I included on the layout.

I was looking forward to a nice, relaxing, eating all day Thanksgiving. I should have known that trying to make it to both sides of the family's parties was going to be difficult!

Lunch with my Dad's side of the family started at 1pm. Before we left the house, DaddyO changed a messy diaper for Lily. So, I assumed that since we had to be back to my Mom's by 2:30pm and Lily had already had her dirty diaper for the day, that it would be ok if I left the diaper bag at home (we were living at my Mom's at the time).

I was very very wrong.

As soon as we arrived for our first dinner, Lily had another stinky diaper, but we had NO diapers! Normally there would have been many families with many babies that could have shared a diaper with us. Unformately they were all spending this holiday with the other side of their families!

DaddyO and I didn't know what to do. We decided to go in to the bathroom to see if we could just scoop the poop out.  Once we got the diaper open we realized that wasn't going to be possible and I didn't want to put the messy diaper back on Lily. We wiped her up (with wet tp cuz I didn't bring wipes) and DaddyO went out to see if by any chance there was a diaper in the car.

Lily and I were hiding in the bathroom. She was running around naked! With nothing covering her bum, and to add to the fun we were already having, she peed on my Aunt's bathroom rug.

I could not believe this was happening and wanted to slap myself for not bringing the diaper bag!

DaddyO came back from the car with a cloth diaper and since we had absolutely nothing else, I searched through every drawer, in my Aunt's bathroom, for some safety pins. After seeing much more than I wanted to, I finally found some pins and put the cloth diaper on Lily!

While we were partying in the bathroom, EVERY ONE at the party was waiting for us to join them so they could say the prayer for dinner. On his way out to the car, DaddyO had instructed them to NOT wait for us. They did not listen!

We finally made it out of the bathroom and everyone was standing around drooling because we made them wait so long to eat. The prayer was said, we ate in about 5 minutes and then we ran out the door!

When we got home Lily was soaking wet from peeing in the cloth diaper minus any plastic pants. We got her changed and in a real diaper and went to eat some more Thanksgiving dinner!

And then I wrote:

I guess I'm thankful that this happened because I will NEVER forget the diaper bag again!!!

I am such a dope!! I DID NOT learn my lesson on this day! It took me 8 years to figure it out and now there is ALWAYS a completely stocked diaper bag in the car AT.ALL.TIMES!!!!

We had even bought Lily a special Thanksgiving outfit. Here she was BEFORE my disastrous trick!

Now, hurry on over to Once Upon a Miracle for more true stories!

Just a Few Photos

I tortured the entire family the other day and made them pose for pictures!

The older kids are always very helpful and smile and hold still for their pictures. So I only have to take a few pictures of them to get good results. As you know, Daisy is not quite as accomodating. When I take her pictures, I just shoot and shoot and shoot and hope that I get atleast 1 good shot. Check out my options from this photo shoot:

I tried to get a group shot. Yeah right Mom!

Letters of Intent-2/19/10

Letters of Intent

Dear Julie,

This one's for you!

Love,
Your loyal blog friend who is trying to help out when you are not feeling so well!

Dear Blogger

To start, let me tell you how much I love and depend on my Blog Roll! It is an invaluable tool that I use every day to keep track of all of my bloggy friends. So please try to understand my distress when i realized my posts were not updating on my friend's blog rolls.

When I publish a new post I would like my friends to be made aware of it immediately. Some of my posts are feeling neglected because they are not receiving their proper recognition before I publish another post.

I have visited the "Help" section and found that there are many other blogs experiencing this same situation and there is even a special Thread just for this problem.

I am afraid my bloggy friends probably think I am stalking them because I show up on their BlogFrog widget every 30 minutes checking their Blog Roll to see if my post has updated yet!

Help!

Love,
A Customer Dealing with Disgruntled Blog Posts

Okie Dokie! Go, NOW, to Foursons to examine more Letters of Intent!

*update: This post updated IMMEDIATELY on Brandi's blog. Perfect! Luckily I have already confessed to stalking her blog so she is used to seeing my face on her Blog Frog widget!

Happy Valentine's Day!

Remember the other day when Daisy didn't want me to take her picture? This was the ONE shot where she was looking at me AND smiling AND standing in front of the backdrop at the same time!

I was planning on taking Valentine pics of the other kiddos yesterday but it didn't happen. I am hoping I will be more successful with the pictures today!

Valentine Treats

Before we start Show and Tell,  there are a few things I need to clear up!

First, I DO NOT make my own bread dough! We buy Rhodes Frozen Roll Dough (or similar off-brand) and just un-thaw a few rolls when we need them. We use it to make hamburger buns, breadsticks, and the kids LOVE to make their own mini pizzas.  Sorry for any confusion about me being Mother of the Year/THE Domestic Diva! *giggle*

Second, I DID NOT design the kids' valentines. I purchased a digital kit at Heather Ann Designs. It is called "Love Bird Treat Set." It came with treat toppers, candy bar wrappers, rolo wrappers, lolli-pop covers, treat boxes, cards and valentines. Pretty much all you have to do is print them out.  For the boys,  I  resized the treat topper to 4x6 in PhotoShopElements and added their picture. Then I had them printed at WalMart. Lily REFUSED to allow me to add her photo to her treats so this is what her's looked like:

The clear bags are 4"x6" and I got them at a local craft store. I folded the photos in half and stapled them to the treat bags. Easy Peasy!

About 80 completed treat bags.

For the teachers, I printed out candy bar wrappers and rolo wrappers on 8.5x11 photo paper.

Have a Great Weekend!!

TYVM - 2/11/10

The Daily Dribbles

Oh Yeah! It's FREE Therapy Day courtesy of Kmama at The Daily Dribbles!

To myself, for accidentally forgetting to unthaw the dough to make hamburger buns! Forcing me to order pizza instead of making hamburgers for dinner, Thank You Very Much! Not only did I not have to cook, because I made the kids use napkins for plates, I didn't have to do dishes! Love ya Forgetful Brain!

To my Smarter Than Me Children, Thank You Very Much for coming up with new and interesting ways to get out of eating your dinner. The other night, DaddyO caught Bailey trying to leave the table looking like this:
Sir? I know your older sister taught you this and I'm sure it has worked for you in the past, but we don't think it's funny to cram as much food as you can in to your mouth and then go spit it out in the toilet! (actually DaddyO and I both think that is hilarious) Please don't start hiding napkins full of food in the cupboards, like your sister does, Thank You Very Much!

There WILL be a bag of candy attached to it!

I DID ask the boys if these were acceptable and they both agreed that they were!

Sick AND Tired

I have officially crossed cold AND flu off my Winter To Do list! I am over all this sickiness! (as Ashton would say)
I scanned through my blog list yesterday and passed out from exhaustion! I know you've all been missing me and have been worried sick about where I have been! Right?
Ahem!
Tomorrow is a full day of soccer, so my goal is to visit all my bloggy friends on Sunday!

It's that time of year, and today I attempted to get some Valentine pictures of Miss Daisy. Same story, different day!

I tried to get her to sit on her rocking horse. She gave me a piece of her mind. It was not a cooperative piece! Maybe she doesn't like it when I make her wear a name-tag on her forehead?

I asked her to sit in the rocking chair and have a little tea party. She DID enjoy some tea but she DID NOT sit still!

I got a lot of shots that look like this!

Then she refused to stay in front of my hi-tech photo back-drop (a black sheet draped over her crib)

And finally, SHE HAD HAD ENOUGH!

She yelled and pointed an angry finger at me. And finished by telling me what I could do with that tea cup!
