Ten Things To Smile About - August

It's that time of the month again! Time for Ten Things I enjoyed Smiling About in August!

1. We finally had some decent monsoon storms!

2. The boys invited 6 friends to their birthday party and ALL 6 showed up!
    Bonus: All but 1 RSVPed!

3. Watching the boys play with their new legos! We may have waited a bit too long to let them have the tiny legos. And, YES, we find them ALL OVER the house!

4. The last 5 days we have had tempertures BELOW 100 degrees. Unheard of in August! Yesterday it was 98degrees with absolutely no humidity! Ahhhhhhhhhhhh!

5. Because of the cooler temps, we took our first walk/bike ride in MONTHS! The kids were so happy!

6. I got to spend a half-day with Lily during Shadow a Student day at her school.

7. One of the balloons from Daisy's party floated in to the front room and got stuck in the ceiling fan. I smiled once wondering how we would ever get it down from the 20 foot ceiling. I smiled a second time when DaddyO attached a pin to a dart and shot at the ballon with the boys' nerf gun in order to pop the balloon and stop the horrible sounds it was making from being spun around in the fan! (It is still dangling from the fan and I promise to post pics of Daisy's Bday soon!)
8. & 9. This one deserves 2 smiles because we were LOBO! We were over at my Mom's swimming and Daisy decided she was done with the pool. My Mom took her and was going to get her dressed. She started to pull off her swim diaper only to realize that Daisy had left a messy surprise inside. My Mom wasn't exactly sure how to handle the situation. I told her she could rip the sides of the diaper but because Daisy was standing up, when she tore the sides a hunk-a-poo fell on the patio. The kids and I were all still in the pool, watching and LAUGHING! After Grandma got Daisy hosed off and handed to Grandpa, she grabbed the piece-a-poo and threw it in to the swim diaper so she could throw the entire thing away. This is when the real laughter began. Through his laughter, Ashton said "I've never seen an old lady pick up poo before!"

10. And one final smile thinking that next month I will be smiling about watching Survivor!!

Monday Mugs - The Backyard

Are you in need of a mindless Monday Blog post? Are you struggling to deal with the weekend being over and can't muster the strength to type a single word? Well, Monday Mugs is for YOU! I may or may not "borrow" ideas from IheartFaces and post my interpretation of their weekly theme. Without submitting my photo for judgement and not being forced to follow the rules.

Mondays are hard! Blogging on Mondays shouldn't be!

Today's theme for Monday Mugs is: The Backyard

We spend a lot of time in our backyard! One of our most memorable times in the yard was the first summer that we had grass. The kids were outside every day! Our lot is situated so that in the early afternoon the backyard is completely shaded. Even on sweltering days there is a reprieve from the hot sun.

Playin' in the sprinkler.
One of kids' favorite pastimes was
to drive the pink jeep around the yard!

Bailey had a special talent for getting the jeep stuck.

Ashton was the best driver and would
always come to Bailey or Lily's rescue!

If it's too hot for the grown-ups or we just need to get things done inside, there is a full-view of the backyard from the kitchen and family room.

This is one of my all-time favorite pictures taken in our backyard!
I should have more pictures of the sandbox
and super cool playland that DaddyO built!

TYVM - 8/26/10

Courtesy of Kmama!

To the Walmart Vision Center, Thank You Very Much for FIRST telling me to "wait a little while" before coming in to look at glasses because the store was busy and SECOND, when we showed up, greeting us with a printed out and LAMINATED sign that read: We Are Closed Early Due to a Family Emergency!
All 3 of you had an emergency? Before closing time on a FRIDAY EVENING?!?!
Very Suspicious!!!
We took our business elsewhere, Thank You Very Much! *thumbs in ears, waving hands and sticking out tongue*

To Miss Daisy, Thank You Very Much for waking up, 3 nights in a row, when I sneak in to your room to make sure you are breathing before I go to bed!  And then requiring me to rock you before putting you back in bed! You gotta stop reminding me how wonderful it is to rock my snuggly baby cuz before I know it you will be all grown up and too big or too embarrassed to have your Mama rock you! Don't even think about blaming me! It is a complete accident that I step on the squeaky board just outside your room and that the doorknob creaks a little too loudly when I walk in!

TYVM - Miss Daisy

Courtesy of Kmama!

I seriously need some therapy this week! I am going to break the rules a little bit today because this Sunday my baby turns 2! (that was for you Kmama!)

Since I have Daisy and her birthday on the brain, I can only think of one person to thank today!

Miss Daisy, Thank You Very Much for growing up way too fast! For making us enjoy you so much that we want you to stay just as you are now! I know we will enjoy you at every stage in your life, but could you just slow it down a little bit? Trying to keep up with your brothers and sister does not help in the "staying a baby" department, Thank You Very Much!

Just look how much you've grown since your 1st birthday!!

Celebrations

Double the boys, double the parties. Right?
