Ten Things

Ten Things that made me smile in September
______________

1. Daisy got cute skeleton pj's and wore this hat everywhere for 2 days straight. Even to bed!

2. Some new Fall decorations.

3. Lily and I share a toothbrush base. After she finishes brushing her teeth every night, she attaches my toothbrush head and lays out the toothpaste for me.
4. Pumpkin Spice Lotion and Hand Soap

5. The 2nd grade put on an Independence Day themed program at school. Ashton and Bailey both had speaking parts and they both remembered their lines and spoke loudly and clearly so we could hear and understand them. Bailey did pronounce Philadelphia "Philadelthia," but that just made me smile even more!

6. Lily was the first student in her class to get the Student of the Month Award. For my extremely quiet and shy girl this is HUGE. A teacher who is able to recognize her personality and treat her in a way that is not intimidating and allowing her to feel comfortable participating in class or asking her teacher for help. Her grades are amazing this quarter with very little help from us!!
7. For the first time since my kids started school, they ALL had perfect attendance this quarter. Usually everyone gets sick a couple of weeks after school starts and inevitably have to stay home due to fevers.

8. 3 more days of school and the kiddos are on Fall Break for 2 weeks. I CAN NOT believe how fast this quarter has gone by! I can still remember the sadness of sending them back to school and am looking forward to everyone being home again!

9. More of this:

10. Survivor

Monday Mugs - Chalk

Are you in need of a mindless Monday Blog post? Are you struggling to deal with the weekend being over and can't muster the strength to type a single word? Well, Monday Mugs is for YOU! I may or may not "borrow" ideas from IheartFaces and post my interpretation of their weekly theme. Without submitting my photo for judgement and not being forced to follow the rules.

Mondays are hard! Blogging on Mondays shouldn't be!

Today's theme for Monday Mugs is: Chalk
___________________________

Although chalk covered children give me hives, my babes are allowed and do enjoy playing with chalk. I guess with all the itching, you know, from the hives, I was never able to take pictures of them enjoying chalk. I was able to capture this shot of a chalk drawing Lily made on our backyard fence. I really love it!

All my cuties in chalk!

TYVM - 9/23/10

It's Thursday, and time for some free therapy courtesy of Kmama!
________________________________________

To the weather, Thank You Very Much for acting like it is still the middle of July! 109 degrees is too hot for me to sit in the shade while watching my boys run around playing sports in your stifling madness! Don't even get me started on the effects suffered by my two ball players! For cryin' out loud, IT.IS.FALL! Start acting like it!

To our DVR, Thank You Very Much for NOT recording Survivor last week. I count on you to know when my favorite show is starting its new season since I had absolutely no idea that it started last week! Before you say "a devoted fan would know," you should know that Survivor is the only CBS show I watch! I haven't seen ANY previews that mentioned a start date. Now I have to get caught up on the Season Premier before I can watch this week's episode and there just aren't enough hours in the day for me to watch 2 episodes in 1 week!

To our local Weather Guessers, Thank You Very Much for telling us that there was a 90% chance of rain last night and today. Those sound like pretty good chances to me, so Where Is The Freaking Rain?

Could you use a little therapy? Go see Kmama! It's Free!!

To DaddyO, Thank You Very Much for smacking me in the head with a magazine while trying to kill a fly. And saying "You have to hit them hard or they don't die" How about you wait til the fly lands somewhere other than MY HEAD!!!

To Daisy, Thank You very Much for deciding my contact case would be a fun toy, removing it from it's happy home in my bathroom drawer and making it impossible for my tired brain to locate it at midnight. Dais, I don't like putting my contact in a ramekin from the kitchen, Thank You Very Much! **update** After I purchased a new contact case, my original case was found in one of Daisy's purses!!

To the packaging of my new contact case, Thank You Very Much for stating that I should be replacing my contact case EVERY MONTH. Really?!?!  oopsa-daisy! I've had my original case for YEARS!

_____________

To DaddyO, Thank You Very Much for sleeping peacefully and quietly until the SECOND I put my head down on my pillow! Trying to sleep with your deafening snores is impossible! Trying to wake you up and move you to a different position is almost as difficult. Can't you control your breathing when you're sound asleep? *wink*  ♥ya!

To DaddyO, Thank You Very Much for ensuring that there is one pair of your black socks in the laundry basket for WHITE clothes only. EVERY WEEK! How in the world do most of your socks manage to make their way in to the "darks" basket except for the one sad pair that is at great risk of being bleached?

To DaisyE, Thank You Very Much for removing the darling outfit that I put on you and exchanging it for this:
Not so cute, Babe! And definitely not appropriate for 100degree heat! The tooth flosser is an attractive touch, though!

TST - The Record Breaker

It's back, it's back, it's back! True Story Tuesday! Yay!!!
________________

Daisy is determined to break all family records for major milestones. She has reached most milestones before any of my other kids. She doesn't seem to care at all that I want her to STAY a baby!!

On her first birthday, we thought it would be helpful, to get her a walker. You know, help her figure out the whole "walking" thing! ON the very day she received the present, she started doing this:

Luckily the walker doubles as a baby stroller!

For her second birthday, we bought Daisy a little training potty. Wishful thinking since the previous family record for being potty trained is a few months past 3 years old. See, I do not enjoy potty training and I procrastinate until it becomes embarrassing as long as possible! I also find it easier to potty train when my kids can communicate better with me. Good excuse?

I wasn't expecting much the first time Daisy tried out her potty. And although she felt right at home on her "throne", she did not produce any excitement.
Later that day, we brought the potty downstairs so she could show the entire family. After everyone left she wanted to test it out again. I was absolutely shocked a few minutes later when the potty started playing a magical tune that meant something had just happened IN the potty. She stood up and sure enough there was pee pee in her potty! We were shocked and sooooooooo excited! We were clapping and giving her high fives and she loved every minute of it! All of this ON her 2nd birthday!

Since then, we have been having diaper free test runs in the mornings. Every time she sits on the potty she is able to "go". She was doing really well last week with only one minor slip-up when she peed on Ashton's bed. She came out of his room and was just as happy as she is when she goes on her potty.

So it looks like she is going to shatter the potty training record!
