So, I am a "just in case" packer. Just imagine how much stuff I had to pack "just in case" for 5 of us! I thought DaddyO was going to kill me for packing SO MUCH STUFF, but after he had loaded it all in the car he said that he didn't think there was that much stuff! Yes!!
Our goal was to leave by 8am, however we didn't drive away from the house until 9am and we had to make a couple stops.
Five minutes after we left, the kids started asking if we were there yet! Other than the occasional arrival status update they ALL did very well during the 5 hour drive. I was a little worried about how Daisy would tolerate the drive, being the only one without a DS or TV. She did SO GOOD. She played and talked and laughed at the kids and only cried one time after we got out to have lunch and tried to put her back in her seat. She was such a trooper! Here was my view during the drive:
When we turned the last corner before the condo we were greeted by this:
Several of the condo buildings were covered in HUGE red and blue tarps with a big sign at the top that read "Termite Fumigation." I was very concerned. DaddyO went to get our condo keys and was told that our condo had already been fumigated and the surrounding condos would be in the process for a few more days! Fabulous! Now I get to worry about exposing my kids to unfamiliar pesticides! There was absolutely no mention of fumigation when I booked the condo. I had booked this condo, specifically, due to its very close proximity to the parking garage. Knowing that we would be hauling many children and their "just in case" suitcases. Now, because the parking garage looked like a circus tent, instead of walking around the corner to our condo we had to get all of them and their stuff across the street. I began composing my complaint letter immediately!
After we got settled, we went to over to the harbor for dinner at Dominic's. I have a very humorous story about this evening that I will share on "What Would Your Children Say Wednesday!"
Later that night, Ashton woke up with a 101degree fever! I was certain he was going to be the first of many cases of swine flu for our family!
Stay tuned for the next episode of "Our Acation" to find out if the entire family gets the flu and if anyone has a bad reaction to pesticides!
