Blog Gap - Blog Hop - and A Happy Birthday

Whew! It's been too long since I posted! Here is the reason for the gap:
I volunteered to help Bailey's teacher cut out these bears. I don't know exactly what they are for but there were a ton! Also, you'd think after 10 years of scrapbooking I would have better scissor skills! It took me forever and when I was done my hand hurt so bad I had to give it a break! OK, moving on!

The theme for the Blog Hop this week is "Baby Pics." I decided to post baby pics of the whole family. It's kinda fun to see how we all compare.

Mommy H

And last but not least, we want to wish Grandma B a very Happy Birthday. Grandma doesn't get sound on the computer she uses so we made her a silent movie. If you have sound, that is Daisy in the background begging to be put to bed!
Happy Birthday Grandma!

Vampire Ashton

This week it is Ashton's turn to share something funny, and as luck would have it he did something quite hilarious this morning. Today is picture day and this was our conversation before school today:

Ashton: "Mom? I want to wear a shirt that has a collar."
Me: "Oh, I was going to have you wear the orange shirt."
Ashton: "No, Mom. I need to wear a shirt that has a collar, so just before they take my picture I can flip the collar up and look like a vampire."
Me: "Ok Ash."
He also had a bit of a meltdown because I wouldn't button his shirt the way he wanted. That was not so funny. I snapped a picture of the smiling vampire before he left for school.

I got a request to show these in full view. These are some of the pictures I used for decorations at Daisy's party. She was so good sitting in this chair and even kept her headband on. Cutie!

The Party and a Blog Hop

Whew! The party is complete! We had a great day celebrating my littlest cutie. All the party plans went smoothly and most of all Daisy had fun. It took me two days to go through all the photos I took and narrow it down to just these. Hold on! There are lots!!

These were a few of the decorations and party favors for the grandparents.

While daydreaming about Daisy's Birthday, I imagined a 3 tiered, cake boss-ish type cake. A quick $100 slap in the face woke me right up. Donn volunteered to be the cake boss, but he had soccer camps on Friday night and Saturday morning and not enough time for cake building! I found these little beauties at Walmart! I think they are perfect with the little daisies and much better for the wallet at $6/each!!

Here is a close-up of one of the cakes. Isn't it cute!

I made the birthday banner. I found someone selling them on etsy for $30 and realized I could recreate it using my Cricut. Very pleased with the results and the savings.

And finally the Birthday Girl! She knew exactly what to do with the wrapping paper and when no one was looking helped herself to her presents.

Ok. I got the little party hat months ago and was hoping to get some to-die-for pictures of Daisy wearing it. I thought with the cake eating distraction she would keep the hat on her head. Wrongo Mommy!! She ripped it right off her head and slammed it in to the cake. That'll teach me! I made this banner too. I wanted to hang it from her highchair but we didn't want it to get covered in cake or kicked by little toesies. Can you see how we hung the banner? Thanks for putting up with me, Teak and Rory!

She was a little timid at first, but then Daddy showed her how to smash her hands in to the cake and grab big handfuls of sugar.

She has a cake goatee.

Daddy gave her the traditional bath-in-the-kitchen-sink to clean her up. She is saying "Get me out of her Mommy!" And then I think she had a little reaction to the frosting cuz this is what her face looked like after her bath. A red rash goatee. It only lasted a little while.

One of Daisy's gifts was a stroller/walker. We thought it might be a good idea to get her something to help her practice walking. Well, she started doing this the same day:

Happy Birthday My Baby!

Also - it is Blog Hop Tuesday. Today's theme is "Time To Laugh." Check out this post. Hopefully it is as funny for people who aren't related to my kids!

Daisy

From her very first month and every month that followed, I have taken pictures of Daisy with her little pink bear. Check out how my baby has grown!

(click for larger view)

Daisy's birthday isn't until tomorrow but she was born on Friday last year. Today, I have been reliving that wonderful day and still trying to figure out how to go back! Here are some pictures from that day:

Based on her sister and brothers, I thought Daisy might be close to 7 lbs, but she surprised me. Here are all my cuties' newborn stats:
*Lily - 6lbs 6oz 38 weeks
*Ashton - 4lbs 13oz 34 weeks
*Bailey - 5lb 1oz 34 weeks
*Daisy - 6lbs 1oz 39 weeks (only 1lb bigger than Bailey)

Lily was so glad to have another girl in the family and someone to buy shoes for!

Originally, Ashton wanted another brother. He changed his mind pretty quick!

Bailey really loves his little sister and he is the one who picked out her little pink bear.

The day we brought her home, trying out her bed.

Wednesday - What Would Your Children Say?

Since it is Daisy Week, rules stipulate that she must be included in What Would Your Children Say Wednesday. Daisy knows how to say a few words, but there is one in particular that we find pretty funny. She has recently started saying “nah” or No. She tells us “nah nah” when we try to take something away from her. Sometimes we take things away from her just so she’ll tell us “nah.” She also screams “NAH!!!” at the top of her lungs when I am changing her diaper or getting her dressed. Saying “nah” is usually followed by a temper tantrum as demonstrated in the following video:

This adorable assistant helped me with the baby torture. hee hee!
I've also added a playlist to my blog with songs that remind me of Daisy. I listened to "Sky" EVERY day that I was pregnant. My Mom and I listened to "Heart of Life" in the car on the way to the hospital. Daisy and I like to dance to "You've Got Some Growin Up To Do"
I will add more songs when Daisy Week is over!

Blog Hop - Favorite Recipes

This recipe is really one of my favorites. It is SO easy and SO yummy! My kids LOVE them. I even whipped some up one morning BEFORE school! Enjoy!

Pumpkin Muffins
1 c flour
1 c sugar
1 tsp baking powder
1/4 tsp salt
1/4 tsp ground cinnamon
2 eggs, beaten
1 c ground pumpkin (canned)
1/2 c cooking oil
1/3 c chocolate chips (I like mini chips)

Mix together. Fill muffin cups and bake at 350 for 20-25 minutes. The recipe and photo are from Becky Higgins' website.

And now for an installment of Daisy Week. I take the pictures in the family, so if I want pictures with the kids, I usually take them myself. Here are my attempts at photos with Miss Daisy:

Baby Mine

I tucked a napkin in to her white outfit so I wouldn't spill bbq beef on it.
