Thank You Very Much - 4/29/10

It is Free Therapy Day courtesy of Kmama at The Daily Dribbles.

To the lady at the baseball game who shared her crack with us the entire game, Thank You Very Much. EVERY time she would lean forward to get her drink, her 'way too low rider' pants would sink further down and reveal way too much of her very unattractive g-string! We're here for some baseball, not a peep show, Thank You Very Much. Get some pants that fit your fat bumper!

To whomever is responsible for the house next door, Thank You Very Much for allowing the power to be shut off and causing EVERY smoke detector in the place to ring 24/7 for the past week. Thank You Very Much for stopping by TODAY and finally taking care of the problem.

To the crazy hot then cold then hot then cold weather we've been having for the past month. Thank You Very Much for causing Lily and Ashton's noses to bleed at an alarming rate. In the middle of typing this post, Ashton came stumbling out of his room with a look of shock and horror that there was blood gushing down his face. Make up your mind already so my kids' nostrils can recover!

Aaaahhhhh! Much better! Go visit Kmama for your free therapy!

I am So sorry for the delay in posting this morning! Our internet had a Daisy sized meltdown lastnight just as i was finishing up this post.
 On with the show!!!

Are you in need of a mindless Monday Blog post? Are you struggling to deal with the weekend being over and can't muster the strength to type a single word? Well, Monday Mugs are for YOU! I may or may not "borrow" ideas from IheartFaces and post my interpretation of their weekly theme. Without submitting my photo for judgement and not being forced to follow the rules.

Mondays are hard! Blogging on Mondays shouldn't be!
Today's theme for Monday Mugs is: Smiles

Here are just SOME of the different types of smiles that I love!

Smiling through her fear from her first time in a swing smiles.
Smiling just cuz my Mom said "HI!" smiles.
Perfectly posed and cooperative smiles.
Baby wearing her Mom's blessing dress that was made out of HER Mom's wedding dress smiles.
Obvious that Subject is saying "cheeeeeeeeeeeeese!" smiles.
Adorable grin + little curls in the back + perfectly holding block prop + trying not to fall off the chair by holding on for dear life smiles.
Chubbing out your darling skin + pink spots between eyes smiles.
Snaggle-toothed smiles.
ToothLESS smiles.
Laughing because my Mom just talked potty talk in order to get me to smile smiles.
Smiles + dimples + wife beaters + summer tans smiles

Barely enough hair to make a curl, my Mom glued a bow on my head, still a bit snaggle-toothed smiles.

TYVM - Boys!

It's free therapy day, hosted by Kmama!

To Ashton and Bailey for INSISTING that they comb their own hair before school today. Boys, it may be irrational, but I need to make sure you look "properly presentable" when I send you out the door! Further more, you are not old enough to take care of these things by yourself. And NO your mother is not in denial and she certainly does not go in to convulsions when she thinks about how fast you have grown up, Thank You Very Much!

Here is how they turned out after I applied the gel and VERY reluctantly handed over the comb:
You did a fine job, Thank You Very Much!

TST - Diaper Recycle

*I am re-using a post I published back in October along with a little update at the end. If you have already seen this, please feel free to skip to the end!*

I know you have all been dying to know how I dispose of diapers, right? RIGHT?! Simmer down! I will tell you!

I have been changing diapers for 10 years. Ten joyful, fun-filled years! How to dispose of the diapers has always been a dilemma!

With Lily we had the Diaper Genie. I liked the concept and enjoyed spinning the diapers around. I don’t know if it was just the 2000 model, but I didn’t think it worked well at hiding the delicious diaper smell! We donated it to an "expecting" family member.

Then, twice the babies equals twice the smell. So we thought it would be funny to throw the boys' diapers in the kitchen garbage can. This worked fine until we had to throw something else away and when we lifted the lid horrific smells would blast us in the face and linger/spread through the kitchen. That kind of stench does not belong in the kitchen.

With Daisy, I started by just putting the diapers in a grocery bag that was hanging on the back of her bedroom door. Pretty soon that started stinking up her room and I knew that something needed to be done! Here is my solution:
I got this 3 gallon metal step-on garbage can and put it under the sink in the kids’ bathroom. Let me just tell you that this is a dream come true! There are 3 layers of nasty odor protection. First, the garbage can lid keeps diapers and their stench inside the can. Second, the cupboard adds an extra stink barrier. And third, if things are smellin' really rotten, we can just close the bathroom door. Also, since these kinds of odors routinely emanate from the bathroom it is not so devastating when the diapers are especially smelly!

While we’re on the subject of diapers, has anyone had babies that remove their own diapers and leave special treats in their cribs or on bedroom floors? Oh! My boys LOVED to disrobe themselves! One morning I walked in and one of them was peeing through the bars of their crib. Another time, someone had left brown smudges on the bed, sheets and down the wall with an unusual surprise on the floor. We remedied this situation by duct taping their diapers. Problem solved.

Here is Daisy modeling the darling duct taped diaper look. I am such a dope and never took pictures of the boys with their duct taped diapers! Bad Mommy! I just smacked my hand!

Daisy was duct taped for the sole purpose of being photographed. And as you can see from the photo she says "rock on" to duct tape!

My Grandma wrote a funny poem about twins and their mischievous activities. The poem was inspired by actual events that were carried out by my twins and my Mom’s twins.

Duct Tape Diapers
Terrible-two twins
(Mom’s immediate melodrama)
Have psychic connections
That double the trouble

Without a word
Or using their unique private language
“A” opens pantry door, “B” pushes in stool.
Soon both are eating five kinds of cereal off the floor.
(Mom puts a lock on the pantry).

“A” finds Mom’s lipstick, “B” smears it on four shoe soles.
Both gleefully tramp across the white carpet.
(Mom finances a new rug and stops wearing lipstick).

“A” opens a box of margarine, “B” takes off the wrappers.
Dining room wall makes a canvas for “oil” painting.
(Mom gets a prescription for Prozac).

Early morning
“A” and “B” commune about stripping down bare-naked.
Soon cribs and clothes and kids are turd-dotted.
(From then on Mom duct tapes the diapers).

Isn’t that fantastic! I love it!!

P.S. Since I wrote this post, Daisy has decided that she likes to take off her clothes AND messy diapers while she is in bed. It looks like duct-tape might be in her future. I think I saw some different colored tape at the store the other day (besides gray). Pink would look nice!

After the previous incident, Daisy did not keep up with the diaper disasters, until a few weeks ago.  Now she is a Diaper Houdini! The pink duct tape WAS purchased and is working very well!

It's a little bit hard to see the cute pink strips. Daisy was not interested in posing to show off her diaper! She was much to busy checking herself out in the mirror while she danced to Lily's musical card!
Now that you are done reading THAT, go visit Once Upon A Miracle to hear more true stories!

Monday Mugs - Collages

Are you in need of a mindless Monday Blog post? Are you struggling to deal with the weekend being over and can't muster the strength to type a single word? Well, Monday Mugs are for YOU! I may or may not "borrow" ideas from IheartFaces and post my interpretation of their weekly theme. Without submitting my photo for judgement and not being forced to follow the rules.

Mondays are hard! Blogging on Mondays shouldn't be!

Today's theme for Monday Mugs is: Collages
I haven't posted our Easter pictures yet  and I thought they would make for an excellent collage!

I used "photo clusters no.17" layered template to make my collage (I also used frames from this kit for my Blog Header). I purchased this kit at Designer Digitals and used PhotoshopElements to put everything together. My collage is actually 4 separate collages (against IHF rules).

Lily's Party

This has been Lily's week on the OC so I thought we would finish up with a few deets on her Birthday Party.
Homemade Birthday Banners

Leavin' the single digits behind! Showing off her frosting covered age.

Homemade table decorations. For the party, these were actually placed in sand pails filled with candy. I forgot to take pictures of them at the party and there is no longer any candy left to fill the pails!

We had fourteen 10-12 year olds join us for the celebration. Each girl got to decorate the first letter of her name with paper, ribbons and flowers. They also had to make their own Cake in a Mug. This was a fun/messy activity but the cake wasn't the most delicious (cooked in the microwave).

Four of Lily's friends spent the night and none of them had to sleep directly on the floor! Our boys got to spend the night at Grandma and Grandpa's so we used their beds, a blow-up mattress and Lily's mattress to give everyone a comfy bed to sleep on. There was not much sleep goin' on, but eventually, around 2am they enjoyed their beds!

Thank You Very Much - 4/15/10

Happy Free Therapy Day!!
To the mean old lady who dared to walk the streets and cross my path while I was behind the wheel. You are lucky I stopped and allowed you to cross the street without mowing you down! *deep breath* Thank You Very Much!

To Bailey for reminding me that I had revoked his dessert priveleges as I was HANDING him his dessert. Oops! My bad! I can't remember everything, Thank You Very Much!

To Daisy for figuring out how to get her diaper off, even when it's under a onesie, while she was supposed to be taking a nap! Daisy! Naps are for sleeping, not stripping, Thank You Very Much!

Need some therapy? Visit Kmama for your free session!

Reminder: Next week's Monday Mugs theme is COLLAGES.
